Who is behind RemoteRecitals?
Founder and Trustee/Director: Jeremy Snead. Jeremy (more info) studied Tuba with a scholarship at the Royal College of Music (London) before becoming distracted by the law, but always retaining an interest in his musical roots. During the COVID 19 crisis he wanted to create opportunities for freelance musicians and Remote Recitals was born.
Trustee/Director: Paul Munday. Born into a Salvation Army family in Norfolk, Paul was surrounded by music from an early age and began playing brass instruments aged just 6 years old. After leaving school, Paul was awarded a scholarship to the Royal College of Music where he studied orchestral trumpet for 4 years, founding a successful brass quintet with Jeremy, following which he embarked on 2 simultaneous career paths. Whilst developing his freelance playing work, Paul also took a part-time job in the Royal Albert Hall’s Education department. Over the past 16 years Paul has developed many of the Hall’s flagship, award-winning education programmes, engaging participants from Early Years through to Older Adults. He is now Senior Education & Outreach Executive at the Hall and still manages to maintain his professional playing by performing regularly in West End shows.
Trustee/Director: Andrew Snead. Andrew played French and Tenor horn for many years in ensembles with and without Jeremy, having many fun times and tours, before settling into life as a banker.
Special Consultant and Video Specialist: Michael Poyser. Mike studied Physics and Musical Performance at Imperial College and the Royal College of Music (where he met Jeremy in the library and then went on to play in a quintet with Paul) before going on to study for a Masters in Performance also at the RCM. Since then he has carved out a diverse and unusual career as a tuba player and educator. As well as working regularly with most of the UK’s top orchestras he has taught at the RCM and RCM Junior College for several years. He is also associated closely with the Royal Albert Hall where he has devised numerous education and community programmes for them. As well as these institutions he has also worked for the charity Create for many years and has been involved with the multi award winning project Inside Stories in prisons up and down the country. As a tuba player Mike plays regularly with the Heritage Orchestra and also Quincy Jones’ Orchestra as well as most of the UK’s top orchestras. He has recorded on numerous film sound tracks (recent films include Yesterday and Dumbo) and recorded with pop musicians such as Rudimental, Caro Emerald and Pete Tong. His jazz group, Bad Ass Brass has toured the UK and many parts of the world. In 2019 Mike also wrote and produced a show for Kensington Palace called Brass Revolutions, wrote for the band Box9, and produced a science show called Brass Explosion – setting fire to all kinds of things!
